The Laws of Simplicity- John Maeda Review

Chapter 1

SHE – Shrink, Hide, Embody

‘Humanist Technologist’ – The study and design of Technology for people to utilise and improve their everyday lives

Applying the notion of reduce to a design process
Eg : Taking a design back to basics and discarding what isn’t needed to achieve the main purpose of the product without compromising performance and quality

Relationship between Complexity & Simplicity
Eg 1: They both share the Letter M, I & T
Eg2: Something can be complex and simple at the same time if executed in a clever way
Eg3: They can also be at opposite poles because a lot of technology is too complex that it becomes confusing and cumbersome or too simple an leaving the user wanting more options or performance

The Transcendent Man
Predicts by 2045, the singularity of man and technology

  1. Great post for Week 2. Once again, check the Power Point, as the Thinking Game for example is not mentioned.

Good layout this week - well labelled, and good commentary on the URL.
